Author, Quadriplegic and former amateur boxer
El Paso Native, Comic book junkie, animal lover, psychology scholar. Humberto hails from the border city El Paso Texas, a city nestled between Mexico and New Mexico at the tip of west Texas. As a young dude from the age of 8 years old he was engrossed by the stories of Superman, Batman, X-Men, and Spiderman comics! This sparked a lifelong love of reading science fiction/fantasy and horror comics/books. Throughout the years the passion for reading also included books and essays by writers and philosophers such as Hemingway, Dostoevsky, Sartre, and Camus.
Before engaging in writing comics, Humberto attended trade school and finding work as a sound guy at recording studios, live venues and corporate events. That was until a car accident left him with a spinal cord injury and permanent paralysis from the neck down. No longer able to return to a physical job, Humberto pursued higher education and received a degree in psychology. From then on, he turned to creating stories and opted to write in the comic book medium in appreciation of the artform.
Humberto is also a former amateur boxer, bass player, and loves to spend time with animals. Currently he’s hanging out a with a dachshund named Star-Lord and a Chihuahua called “Big Mama” Lola.
